Cold Water...BRRR

I am still waiting for hot water in the guest house.  We have plenty of cold water.  I guess I should be grateful to have a toilette that I don't have to empty every 2 days.  The shower is there and it sure does look pretty, but it has no hot water, so it's completely useless.  We still have to use the RV for showering.  It takes the hot water in the Rv about 15 minutes to warm up nicely.  The tank holds 2 gallons and will give about a 7 minute shower.  We have to be quick when washing hair.
My plumber has the inspector coming tomorrow afternoon to check the gas and water heater installation.  If all goes well he will sign off on and green tag the gas line, which means that the gas company will be able to turn on the gas and get my tankless water heater running.  It;s a beast of a machine.  It is large enough for 2 bathrooms.  Since the guest house house only has 1 bath we should have plenty of hot water.  I am fiening for a long hot shower in a tub that I can lift my foot in without banging my knee on the wall.

It will suck you in and spit you out...Ikea

A few years ago when I was furnishing my condo I discovered the wonderful world of Ikea.  However, I was quickly disappointed when most of the furniture that I purchased began to fall apart.  I swore that I would never buy anything from them again.
But, as they say, pain has no memory, because here I am again.  It started with the cabinets.  I figured that I would grab the cabinets from them and that would be it.  The place sucks you in, next thing I know, I am  buying a coach, chairbed, folding chairs and all sorts of junk.  They have the craziest stuff there.  They have solutions for problems that you won't even know that you have.
I bought the cutest cactus' for about 3 bucks each and adorable pots to put them in.  I placed them on the toilette organizer. My kids always ask why I only buy "prickly" plants.  It's because they are the only plant that won't die in my care.  My son was chanting, "plant killer" all afternoon.
I picked up shadow photo boxes with decorative stones to go inside.
I got a 16 piece silverware set for $4.  How crazy is that!!!
I even ended up buying the fridge from them.  We got lucky with free delivery because the warehouse guys couldn't get the thing pulled before closing.

So anyhow I am almost set up in here.  The stove is being delivered on Thursday and then I should be in pretty good shape.

It will be nice to be able to focus 100% on the real house now.

I did it!!!....(well, kinda...)

We slept in the guest house last night for the first time!!!  It was soooo nice.  It has a nice clean remodeled smell instead of a musty old camper stench.  We had the ceiling fans going so there was a cool breeze and great air circulation.  It was airy and spacious.  It felt amazing being back in my king bed.

Now for the kinda.  The bathroom isn't completely done yet.  I had to get out of bed last night and walk outside to the RV just to wee.  The paint and tile are complete.  All we have to do is grout the tile and my plumber can hook up the toilette, vanity, and shower.  He had to order a vent pipe for the tankless water heater, so we won't have hot water in there until the part comes in, I'm hoping everything will be all set for Tuesday.
Today I have to assemble the toilette cabinet and get the tv and other things organized.
Nothing much more to report now.  I'll post pics tomorrow.

So...I guess this countdown is technically over.  I made it with 2 days to spare.  Now for the next countdown, which will be a really, really tough one.  The countdown to get into the real house by Christmas :-)

5 Days and Counting....We have paint!!!

WOW, I've been so incredibly busy the last few days I haven't had a chance to post.  So here's my update.

The plasters were completely finished on Monday.  The plaster looks great.

I couldn't let the plaster cure for a week, like the plasterer suggested.  It would have completely blown my deadline, plus patience is not a virtue for me.  So yesterday, Wednesday, I let the painters go to work.  They got the entire place finished in one day, with the exception of the bathroom, which is being done right now.  I absolutely love, love, love the color on my accent wall.  I'm going to have to incorporate this color into the main house scheme.

This photo does the true color no justice.

The guys got the tarp back on the roof, and just in time as there is a hurricane heading this way. We had to take down a tree that was growing into the side of the house in order to properly secure the tarp.

I have my laborer rushing to get loose debris from the yard into the dumpster.  I want to get that thing picked up before the storm hits.  I don't want to take the chance of having things flying out of it, plus I don't want my neighbors to have 2x4's flying into their windows from my yard.  That would be just my luck.

The plumber is in chugging away in the basement of the main house connecting the gas and water lines that feed the guest house.  Hopefully in the next couple of days we'll have hot water in there.

The floor is also being layed.  Had to get up at 6am to grab the material before the carpenter arrived. I ended up going with the a light Bamboo.  It was the most economical choice. and I couldn't resist how pretty it looked on the display.  It is solid Bamboo and pre-finished. I picked it up at Home Depot for $1.99 per sq. ft.

I'm not sure at this point whether or not I will make my deadline of getting into the guest house and out of hell... I mean the RV, by the 7th, when the kids go back to school.  With only 5 days remaining, the time is so close.  I may go in there and wrap up a few things while we're in.  Just have to see.

Feeling a bit anxious about the storm coming.  I'm hoping that my roof tarp will hold it together.  The roof has major holes that the raccoons were using. I don't want rain pouring in.

On today's agenda I have to pick up the cement board and tile for the bathroom and hopefully get that floor layed tomorrow.  I also need to pick up the baseboard and bathroom door, which will be installed after the main floor is complete, hopefully today.
